From my work with various directors and stage mangers, both equity and non, I have developed my own techniques and attitudes about the role of stage manager. The stage manager should anticipate the needs of the production, be a team member and a leader. The stage manager should work with and communicate effectively with the production team, the cast, and the run crew in a positive, effective way.
As my role as an educator, I have trained young, aspiring stage managers while directing or working on my own productions. From having early meeting with the stage manager to always begin available to discuss certain elements, I understand the importance of being a mentor and a resource for budding stage managers.
